> I should say at this point that some of the best work done by the London film-makers is in the area of "expanded cinema." Of course, New York went through it 10 years ago. Because we went through it, our tendency is to dismiss the expanded cinema work done in London. But I saw a lot of it, and I came to the conclusion that they are not repeating history: the London group picked up (or overlapped with) what was done in New York and San Francisco, and went further. Most of the work done in America between 1960-70 fell into the areas of environment and psychedelic imagery. Or else, like [[Stan VanDerBeek|Vanderbeek]], it was a collage imagery.
